The Opportunity
The Division of Pediatric Surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking a full-time, academic, board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Surgeon at the Assistant Professor level to join our cohesive team of four pediatric surgeons.
Our new partner will provide a full scope of pediatric surgical care, participate in a shared call schedule, and contribute to the education of residents and medical students. Candidates with specific clinical interests or expertise in areas such advocacy, education, robotics, oncology, colorectal surgery, or ECMO are especially encouraged to apply
Clinical and Academic Environment
The Division is supported by experienced advanced practice providers, surgery residents, and dedicated pediatric operating rooms. Our clinical volume and practice environment provide opportunities for continued growth, while fostering the development of individual academic interests alongside clinical care.
Faculty have opportunities to engage in clinical research, robotic surgery, quality improvement, program development, and resident and medical student education. Current collaborative initiatives include pediatric oncology and multidisciplinary tumor board, vascular anomalies, pediatric trauma, and pediatric quality improvement, as well as regional and national research partnerships.
Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital
Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital serves as the regional referral center for a 22-county area extending from Pennsylvania to the Canadian border. The 71-bed children’s hospital includes medical-surgical, pediatric intensive care, and hematology-oncology units, as well as dedicated operating rooms within the Center for Children’s Surgery and a separate pediatric emergency department.
Newborns are cared for in the adjacent 57-bed Baker Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Crouse Hospital. The hospital is home to an ACS-verified Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary pediatric specialty care through Upstate Medical University.
Upstate is a 715-bed multidisciplinary, academic medical center which serves as the tertiary care referral center for Syracuse and the Central New York region.
