The Wellstar Golisano Children’s Hospital of Georgia, Augusta University, is seeking a Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgeon to join a growing practice within Georgia and South Carolina. Opportunities are available for research support for candidates with appropriate experience and interest.
Qualifications:
Board certified/eligible in Congenital Heart Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or equivalent
2 to 5 years of experience is required
Independence with STAT I and II index surgical cases
Independence with overall critical care patient management
Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia.
Must be an innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence.
Interest in clinical outcomes research
About The Wellstar Golisano Children’s Hospital of Georgia and Augusta University
The 154-bed Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia is the area's only children's hospital, dedicated to serving the health care needs of children, from newborns to teenagers. Our teams of more than 80 pediatric specialists use their expertise and training to treat everything from common childhood illnesses to life-threatening conditions. It has the region's only Pediatric Emergency Department, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, with air and ground transport, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The program performs 150 operations per year with 100- 125 STAT Index operations annually. Currently, a dedicated CVICU with independent staff and a Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory exists. The prospective surgeon(s) would become part of our integrated multidisciplinary Heart Institute and would support the director of cardiothoracic surgery in clinical care, teaching, research and in the division's outreach initiatives. The surgeon(s) will help promote the continued evolution of this regional congenital heart surgery initiative. Selected candidates may provide clinical care for both pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease. The Children’s Hospital of Georgia is part of the Augusta University Health System which includes a 478-bed medical center, a Medical Office Building with more than 80 outpatient practice sites in one convenient setting, and a Critical Care Center housing a 13-county regional trauma center.
