LEAD PEDIATRIC ANESTHESIA IN A THRIVING ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT
Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH), part of Northwell Health, is seeking a Director of Pediatric Anesthesia. This is a prime opportunity for a physician-educator to lead a critical service and play a key role in their accredited Anesthesia Residency Program. The successful candidate will join a large, collaborative department, with autonomy for clinical innovation and the opportunity to mentor the physicians of tomorrow. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Director of Pediatric Anesthesia, you will be the clinical and academic leader for the subspecialty. This multifaceted role is ideal for a leader passionate about clinical excellence and medical education in a vibrant teaching environment.
- Clinical & Administrative Leadership: Providing expert oversight and coordination of complex pediatric anesthesia care, serving as the primary clinical resource.
- Academic Leadership & Mentorship: Shaping future anesthesiologists within the ACGME-accredited residency program through direct teaching, supervision, and curriculum development.
- Strategic Program Growth: Driving the development and expansion of ambulatory pediatric anesthesia services, innovating to enhance patient access and meet community needs.
The successful candidate will have a pivotal role as a faculty leader and mentor within an ACGME-accredited Anesthesia Residency Program. The Director will join a collegial department of 48 attending anesthesiologists in an academic setting, providing oversight of a diverse and growing pediatric caseload (approximately 1,600 cases per year), offering ample teaching opportunities. This includes access to the extensive resources, professional development, and collaborative network of Northwell Health. This balanced role combines high-level clinical practice with advancing academic medicine.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- MD/DO degree from an accredited institution. Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
- Fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
- Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatric Anesthesiology. New York State medical license.
- A strong passion for teaching, mentorship, and resident education is essential. Demonstrated leadership experience.
